This weekend is a rare and amazing opportunity to meet, learn from and fully immerse yourself in a few days of music with the fiddling brothers, Iain and Alasdair Fraser.
Both Alasdair and Iain Fraser have spent their music lives trying to be as inclusive as possible and so the main requirements for coming to our strings weekend is enthusiasm and willingness to learn something new. For slower players, we will always make sure you have something to play and for faster players we will try to keep you interested even if it means being challenged in other musical ways like coming up with arrangement ideas, adding more sophisticated ornamentation or honing your performance skills.
Playing the instrument is only part of this and the weekend course also aims to help you build a more musical brain, further develop your rhythmic sense, your awareness of pitch and tone and your critical listening skills.
Being good enough is not a requirement!
Remember ALL INSTRUMENTS welcome this is not just for fiddle players.
The Strings weekend kicks off on the evening of Friday 31st January at the Cross Keys Hotel in Kelso with all participants gathering together for an evening meal followed by an informal session. The weekend will continue with 2 days of world class music workshops and teaching and a variety of evening activities and music sessions concluding with a performance by all participants.
