Andy Gray – Guitar (Acoustic & Electric): Bass Guitar Lessons in Melrose & North Berwick
Andy started playing the guitar at 15 years old. Mainly influenced by rock music, he had tuition from Sound Control in Dundee for an number of years before playing in a rock covers band in and around Tayside. He started to become interested in Traditional Music after opening of the Merlin Music shop in Melrose where he was properly introduced to the traditional/folk music scene and was soon attending local sessions. His tuition encapsulates many different styles, genres and techniques. Andy has obtained Feisan Nan Gaidheal tutor qualifications.
Andy is passionate about offering high quality tuition but within a fun, supportive environment. He teaches in groups and 1:1s. Andy is PVG registered.
Iain McKenzie Biography:
Iain has been playing guitar for over 40 years and professionally for over 30. After studying classical guitar to Grade 8, he branched out into rock music, with several years spent gigging and recording with Edinburgh’s Holocaust. Since 2001 he has taught guitar full-time and although he continues to do occasional gigs and sessions, teaching has always been his main interest. Iain teaches classical, folk, blues, pop, rock and metal to an advanced level and electric bass to an intermediate level. His adaptable approach is led by the individual and their goals, making sure you will always be playing or working towards the music you love. He is passionate about teaching guitar within a safe, supportive and welcoming environment. Those looking to take exams in either music theory or practical playing will be in safe hands as Iain has many years of experience teaching the major syllabuses from SQA, ABRSM, Trinity and RSL. Iain holds a first-class honours degree in music from London’s Kingston University, is a member of The Registry of Guitar Tutors at London College of Music and an RSL
recommended tutor. He is fully PVG registered.
