Music Camp Tutors


We have an amazing line up of Tutors including, Fiddler, Iain Fraser (Camp Leader) and are so happy and delighted to welcome back the amazing Accordionist, Ian Lowthian to the Merlin Camp. Both Iain and Ian have many years experience as Performers, Musicians and Tutors. Also both Tutors have worked many times in the past together and are a brilliant combination of talent, musicianship and great chemistry together, lots of great craic and tunes is a certain with these two wonderful Tutors.
A Huge Welcome to Suzanne – Camp Singing Tutor

Some of you may also recognise Suzanne. Suzanne has been coming to the Merlin Summer Camp for a number of years and will be joining us this year as our Singing Tutor for the weekend. Suzanne has studied Musical Theatre and has been singing Folk Music for a number a years and has an wonderful energy which she will also bring to the camp. Suzanne is vey excited to be teaching at this Year’s Music Camp, she will be concentrating on Scottish songs of course, but will also touch upon other musical styles and cultures. Suzanne aim is to help everyone discover their own singing voice, as well as how to tell a story through song. You will also be working on a little bit of technique and singing in harmony, but the most important goal for the weekend is to have fun!
The Wonderful Kathy Kennedy – Camp Workshop

Our very lovely Kathy will also be joining us for the last time this year for a Saturday workshop and as ever will bring joy, fun and love to the Camp. Kathy will be holding a Harmony Singing Workshop for all – experienced or not. Songs that will give you the feel good factor from a variety of traditions.
Merlin Tutor, Andy Gray will be also on hand to help out with all Guitarists. Andy has been our resident Guitar Tutor teaching at Merlin for the last 10 years. His tuition encapsulates many different styles, genres and techniques. So if guitar is your instrument Andy will be delighted to welcome you along.

WHAT TO EXPECT
This magical, musical weekend is very much about learning from and spending time with all our Camp Tutors. The whole weekend is geared towards learning tunes/song as a whole group and at the end of the weekend everyone comes together to perform a concert to friends and family. Music workshops are held throughout the day with lunch/coffee breaks and the evening activities are a wonderful sociable gathering which will include a Music Session and Talent Show as well as evening meals of course. Many wonderful people attend year after year and have formed some lovely life long friendships. So don’t be shy if you are attending for the first time, you will be welcomed with a warm heart from everyone and will not want to leave!
